In this lecture, Professor Andy Sumner—Professor of International Development at King’s College London and President of the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI)—will provide an in-depth introduction to Development Studies (DS) as a multidisciplinary field. He will explain how DS differs from Development Economics and highlight the contributions of disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, and international relations. The session will also cover common scientific methodologies used in DS research.

Importantly, Professor Sumner will discuss postgraduate study opportunities and career prospects in the field. This lecture will be particularly relevant for students and early-career lecturers from across faculties at Universitas Padjadjaran and beyond who are seeking to broaden their academic horizons and explore future pathways in development research and practice
